Although there are various interpretations of this quote, nothing beats the original: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”

This quote is typically advised when facing adversities or challenges. For example, if you’re heading to work and your car breaks down, you may start to panic. Whereas you could try your best to remain calm, evaluate all your solutions, and find a way to work through the situation.

Safe Families for Children states that, “Lemons suggest sourness or difficulty in life; making lemonade is turning them into something positive or desirable.”

In other words, try to make the most out of every situation. According to Dancing Through the Rain, there are a few ways to do this.

The number one thing is to “Accept what’s happening.” This allows you to learn how not to dwell on the situation for too long. Dwelling on situation can make you panic more causing overanalyzing, which doesn’t help.

Another way is to “Change your perspective.” This can involve try to evaluate the situation from every angle. This allows to assess the best way to resolve the situation and learn from it.

With that being said, please keep in mind that some things are out of our control. Therefore, we must take those sour lemons (negatives) and make them into lemonade (positives).

Peace,
